About a month before she graduated from Appalachian State University, Pressley Laton met a Mountain Man from Banner Elk, NC in a college bar while nursing her drink and her weekly karaoke-night habit. Shortly after, she had to break it to her dad that she wasn't coming back home. Nearly 3 years later, she and her parents would do some drive-by flower picking for her wedding bouquet on the way to marry her now Mountain Man husband. With her usual hyperbolic half-truths at play, she'll leave you to guess the fictional versus truthful parts.

That wooden paddle hadn’t crossed Pressley Laton’s mind in years until she heard Tyler Childers’ “Bus Route.” The song’s bus driver triggered memories of her real-life grade school principal and the paddle which she truly named “Ol’ George.” Mixing truth with fictional flair, Pressley reframes this childhood experience in an unmistakably country song, the first downbeat punching through like the crack of a paddle on her rear end.
